PURPOSE:To obtain a water-absorbing resin having high gel strength and high gel durability, excelling in liquid diffusiveness and liquid permeation and showing excellent performances as a sanitary material by polymerizing a hydrphilic unsaturated monomer having a specified group in the presence of two specified cross-linking agents. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a water-absorbing resin by polymerizing a hydrophilic carboxylic unsaturated monomer in the presence of a cross-linking agent, wherein the cross-linking agent comprises a cross-linking agent (A) having at least two polymerizable unsaturated bonds and a cross-linking agent (B) having at least two polymerizable unsaturated bonds and ahydroxyl group in an A/B ratio of (95-50)/(5-50), is provided. According to this process, a water- absorbing resin having high gel strength and high gel durability, a low content of water-soluble components, excelling in liquid diffusiveness and liquid permeation and showing excellent performances as a sanitary material can be produced without using any third component such as a surfactant or a dispersant and without using an excessive amount of a cross-linking agent. |
