PURPOSE: To provide a composite material including a support membrane being coated by adsorption by using an additive for reducing the thrombus-forming characteristic of a base material. CONSTITUTION: A support membrane is made up of a copolymer of a monomer made of substantially acrylonitrile and that is at least one kind of ionic or capable of ionization. An additive is a copolymer of acrylonitrile in which at least one kind of comonomer includes a polyoxyethylene unit. This additive may further include a positively charged monomer such as quaternary ammonium. The composite material may be used for the treatment of blood, particularly for dialysis and plasmapheresis.
