<p>PURPOSE: To provide a pressure swing adsorption(PSA) method for producing a product gas from a feed gas mixture including the product gas by designing a system comprising: sensing when the gas leaving the bed of an adsorbent material during the purging step by the product gas contains a preselected volume of the purging gas; and stopping the purge step on reaching the preselected volume to regenerate the bed under a particularly required regeneration condition. CONSTITUTION: A feed gas mixture (e.g. air) is brought into contact with beds 4 and 6 of adsorbent material (e.g. zeolite) which adsorbs preferentially at least one other component (e.g. nitrogen) of the feed gas mixture relative to the product gas. The beds 4 and 6 are desorbed and purged with a purge gas. A fuel cell 32 senses when the gas leaving the bed during the purging step contains a preselected volume of the purge gas, and on reaching the preselected volume, the fuel cell 32 sends a signal to a controller 34 which interferes the purge gas stream. Such an operation cycle is repeated.</p> |
