PURPOSE: To obtain a curing agent for viral infections by containing an unsaturated fatty acid as an effective ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This curing agent for viral infections is brought to contain an unsaturated fatty acid or its salt, preferably an essential fatty acid of n-6 and n-3 series, especiallyγ-linolenic acid, dihomoγ-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid and decosahexaenoic acid or their derivatives, especially a lithium salt as an effective ingredient. The curing agent is formulated in oral and nonoral forms, preferably in an intravenously administering form and administered in 1 mg-100 g/day. The curing agent is useful as a curing agent for viral infections, above all for retrovirus-infections, especially HIV group viral infection as it destroys infected cells in vivo and can remove solely virus infected cells without damaging noninfected cells.
