PURPOSE: To provide an improved security document having a cancellation term which is not easily visible on the document surface but is visualized in a copy of the security document by printing a specific background printed matter and a specific cancellation term using a specific process. CONSTITUTION: This security document has background printed matters 30, 34 which comprise a pattern of elements of a first size and a first frequency and are printed at a first density perceived as a first tone on the surface and cancellation terms 32, 36 which comprise a pattern of elements of a second size and a second frequency and are printed at a second density perceived as a second tone. In addition, the elements of one of the first size or the second size are sufficiently small, so that the elements are not reproduced by a color copier at the particular copier setting. On the contrary, the elements of the other of the first size or the second size are sufficiently large, so that the elements are reproduced by the color copier at the particular copier setting. Thus the copy of the security document shows the cancellation terms 32, 36. Further, at least a part of the security document is divided into plural band and each of the sizes of the elements of the first and the second size varies in a direction tranversing each of the bands. |
