A file search control apparatus comprises a search device (1) which sends search identification data, a recovery unit (40) including an identification-data storage circuit (52) which supports a set of search identification data allotted to individual dossiers, a comparison circuit (51) which compares the search identification data received with the set of data stored in the identification data storage circuit (52) and which sends out a coincidence signal as output when data which correspond are found, and a response signal sending circuit (53) which actuates a light-emitting diode which is recognisable externally (48) in accordance with the coincidence signal, and which sends a response signal as output signal. <IMAGE>
