PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinder reducing the formation of a lip caused by the rotating operation of a typical grinder and reducing errors related to the use of a plurality of linkage. SOLUTION: The grinder used for a tire uniformity machine comprises a pair of rotatable grinding wheels selectively moved to come in contact and not to come in contact with a tire mounted in the tire uniformity machine, to grind the tire supported in a grinding head. The grinding wheels are radially moved to and from the tire and driven by one or more motors mounted on the grinding head to rotate the grinding wheels in the opposite directions from each other.
