PURPOSE: To provide an improved manufacturing method for a decorative plastic article used for the decorative plate of an automobile. CONSTITUTION: A process for forming a decorative plastic article comprises the step of receiving an in-moulding foil with a decorative material 14, 16 applied thereto, moulding a plastic body 31 and in-moulding the decorative material from the foil to the plastic body, applying an opaque layer 50 to the plastic body covering the decorative material and laser trimming the opaque layer away from the decorative material in prescribed pattern to define graphic characters 16. The decorative material is applied to eliminate a witness line. |
