PURPOSE: To provide an applicator for a pour spout fitment, with which a flanged pour spout fitment is put through an opening in a carton top panel. CONSTITUTION: This applicator includes a rotating shaft 28, to which an anvil 46 is fixed, a vacuum cup 48 installed at the terminal of the anvil 46 and a cam controlled pivotable chute segment for controlling the supplying of a fitment 36 to the vacuum cup 48. A linkage and toggle system 54 serves to rotate the anvil 46 and a cam 30 so as to insert the fitment 36 directly in an opening 20. While being supported with the anvil 46, the flange 37 of the fitment 36 is adhered to the inner surface of the top panel 22 around the opening 20 by an ultrasonic sealer with a horn 52. The applicator is operated transversely to the moving passage of one row of carbons 16 along the conveyor 14. |
