Wart remedy for external use

The present invention provides a wart remedy for external use which contains an organic and/or inorganic selenium compound as active ingredient, with the proviso that the wart remedy contains a) no product of the reaction of selenium with elaeostearic acid and b) no aliphatic ketone with an odd number of carbon atoms. The wart remedy preferably contains 1. as organic selenium compound a compound of the general formula R1-(Se)n-R2, where n is an integer from 2 to 8, and either R1 and R2 are identical or different and are straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals with 2-36 carbon atoms (preferably 6 to 12 carbon atoms), it being possible for the alkyl radicals on the terminal carbon atom to be substituted by a COOH group, or R1 is a hydrogen atom and R2 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical with 2-36 carbon atoms (preferably 6 to 12 carbon atoms), it being possible for the alkyl radical on the terminal carbon atom to be substituted by a COOH group, or 2. as inorganic selenium compound alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal selenite and/or selenate and/or selenous acid.
