PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a thumbnail image more distinctly identifying the recorded contents. SOLUTION: A representative area selecting device 12 recognizes an image by applying a prescribed image form pattern to an image which is inputted by an image input device 10 and decides a main representative area among more than one areas obtained by dividing one screen. A representative rate evaluating device 14 corrects a representative evaluation value between the main representative area which is selected by the selecting device 12 and another area. A reducing device 16 decides the reduction rate of each part of the screen by following the representative evaluation value from the device 14 and reduces each part so as to permit its size to be a thumbnail image size. |
