A fuel filter inside an automobile fuel tank comprises a filter bag 12 of welded construction with an internal support 14 comprising a base 14A and spaced uprights 14B, the corners presented by the support being rounded at r and/or R to prevent damage to the bag. The support also has a pipe fitting designed to connect to the fuel pump. In Figs. 5 - 8 the fitting is hingedly connected to the support base, to allow relative movement, and incorporates a downwardly inclined baffle to ensure that fuel is drawn from the lower part of the bag interior. The baffle carries rounded extensions, also to prevent damaging the bag fabric. <IMAGE>
