The invention relates to a method for filling fluid into transportable railway tanker wagons via a pressure pipe connection which opens into the container at the bottom and has an actuable shut-off valve. According to the method, the fluid is fed in by means of a computer programme with integrated data location-finding table of the container in such a way that initially the residual contents of the connected container are measured in a hydrostatic way, subsequently the identification of the container is tested and then the container is filled in a volume-independent manner, supplementing the detected residual contents up to a predetermined maximum filling quantity and then the contents of the container are measured again with possible correction of the filling quantity by repeating the programme.
