A separating device for foliage and other foreign bodies from a roof-gutter downpipe in the path of a screen essentially comprises, for the purposes of a simpler construction type and more convenient handling and the avoidance of damage due to leakages, a two-part housing with a pipe part (6) which is to be inserted laterally into the roof-gutter downpipe (19) and has connections which are located one above the other in an aligned manner. Arranged in the pipe part is a grating (8) which passes through said pipe part wholly or partially, intersects the pipe-part axis diagonally and subdivides the latter into an inflow cavity and an outflow cavity (9, 10). Adjoining the inflow cavity directly or indirectly is a housing part (2, 4) with a collection cavity (12). The grating (8) advantageously comprises bars. <IMAGE>
