PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of high-quality display by resolving a problem of ununiformity of a screen caused by wiring resistance and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A plurality of Y-direction lines 20 and a plurality of X-direction lines 22 formed by intercrossing them and a plurality of electron emission elements 18 respectively connected to the intercrossing parts of the Y-direction lines and the X-direction lines are formed on a back substrate 12. The Y- direction lines are formed in multiple first grooves 23a formed on the back substrate. The X-direction lines are formed, through interlayer insulating layers 34, in multiple second grooves 32b formed on the back substrate and respectively extending by crossing the first grooves and the Y-direction lines.
