A belt for garments, in particular for dresses, coats, skirts, blouses or the like, is described, the belt having an outwardly facing first layer, an insert and an inner layer. In this case, the belt is designed as a composite body in such a way that the first outer layer is bonded to the insert and the insert is bonded to the inner layer. The method for producing such a belt provides for an insert provided with a melt adhesive to be arranged between the outer layer and the inner layer and subsequently for the layers forming the belt to be bonded at a temperature between 110 DEG C and 190 DEG C.
