PURPOSE:To enable the separation and recovery of catalyst without loss and to keep the merits of both homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, in the preparation of alcohols, from CO and H2 by using a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Alcohols are prepared by reacting CO with H2 in the presence of an organic solvent at 50-400 deg.C, pref. 150-300 deg.C, under 20-1000 atm. pref. 50-200 atm., using a catalytic system comprising a metal carbonyl, pref. iron carbonyl, and platinum oxide. |
