The invention relates to a door intercom system with at least one door intercom station which contains at least a bell trigger, a loudspeaker and a microphone, and with at least one house intercom station functionally connected to the door intercom station and containing at least a loudspeaker, such as a handset, and a microphone. So that a system of this type can be used in a more versatile manner and effectively provides information even when the house intercom station is unmanned, it is provided according to the invention that the door intercom system has a speech storage device which, once it is switched on, can be activated to continuous standby mode depending on an actuation of the bell trigger and, following activation, forwards a message text previously stored in a message text memory of the speech storage device to the loudspeaker of the door intercom station. A visitor can thereby receive information from a pre-recorded message text even when the system operator is absent. Preferably, the visitor can also record a visitor text to be listened to later for the system operator.
