An aquatic exercise device which has a dual configuration of a hand-held buoyancy swimming kick board and a buoyancy device worn around the human's midsection. The device is a buoyant board (80) which is substantially elongated and having a large surface area at opposite sides thereof. Affixed to and/or projecting from the board element (80) are opposing limbs of band elements (86). When secured around the human midsection, the device is used in deep water to support the human in a substantially vertical position. This allows upright exercise while the human is freely suspended with the head and most of the neck above water and the lower extremities bearing no weight. When the band element (86) is folded and fastened around the board element (80) or removed, the board element (80) can be used as a kick board. An auxiliary buoyant element (209) is provided for location in different selective positions relative to the band (86) and/or board (80). When used as a swimming kick board the buoyant element (209) is affixed adjacent to the board (80). When used about the human's midsection, the auxialiary element (209) is removed from the board (80) and placed adjacent to the human torso by affixation with the band (86).
