A novel sphingolipid synthesis inhibitor comprising a compound represented by the general formula (A). Especially preferably, the novel sphingolipid synthesis inhibitor comprises a (1R,3R)-N-(3-hydroxy-1-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropyl)alkanamide in which the alkanoyl group has 8 to 16 carbon atoms.
