A device for recovering the carrier of a TDMA-type signal supplies the complex envelope (rk) of this signal on a real channel (P) and an imaginary channel (Q). Means (60, 61) for angular shifting by pi /4 of the constellation of the complex envelope (rk) supply a complex signal (Zk) on a main channel and on an auxiliary channel. Energy-detection means (65, 66, 67, 68, 69) drive a multiplexer (70) so that it supplies the channel, real or imaginary, carrying the highest energy, to a correlator (71). The correlator (71) calculates the degree of correlation (x) between the output signal from the multiplexer (70) and a unique reference word (MU). Means (72, 73, 74) for comparing the degree of correlation (x) with a threshold value (S) indicate the detection of the unique word (MU) in the signal of the channel applied to the correlator (71). <IMAGE>
