PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid ball with particular feeling provided by string wound construction.

SOLUTION: A golf ball comprising a core comprising a metal salt of an unsaturated organic acid and a halogenated organosulfur compound or a metal salt thereof, and a cover; wherein the metal salt of an unsaturated organic acid is present in an amount of less than about 20 pph and the halogenated organosulfur compound or a metal salt thereof is present in an amount of less than about 2 pph.
