The protein is derived from plasma and pasteurized by heating to a temperature of 50 DEG to 65 DEG C. for 0.5 to 100 hours in the presence of one or more stabilizers for Factor 1. Preparations containing the protein are useful in the treatment of Factor I deficiency and autoimmune diseases.
