Gear wheel which is suitable for use in the belt drive of a water pump of an automobile, the gear wheel being produced by cold extrusion and, by the extrusion operation, being provided with extremities from which one or more flanges are formed, by flanging the extremities obtained by cold extrusion until they are of the desired shape.
