A pressure cooker is proposed, whose lid (2) has a hood (6) which, for residual-pressure reduction and subsequent opening avoiding a rotational movement, is to be displaced with respect to the pot (1) solely in the vertical direction. In this arrangement, tongues (36), projecting downwards between hood rim and pot rim (5), ensure, in cooperation with the guide slots (37) in the clamps (10) holding pot (1) and lid (2) together, radial opening and closing displacements of the clamps (10). A centring ring (8), arranged in the hood (6) and reaching into the pot (1), facilitates the mounting of the lid onto the pot. The centring ring (8) carries the sealing ring (7) and the tongues (36) and is stressed, by means of springs (30) resting on the hood (6), in the direction leading away from the hood. Hood (6) and centring ring (8) are guided on one another and can be locked to one another in the open position by means of elements (27, 29) engaging with one another. On closing the pressure cooker, the locking mechanism is released, and the springs effect both the closing displacement of the clamps and the positioning of the sealing ring (7) with respect to its sealing-off faces on hood and pot. <IMAGE> |
