The invention relates to a method and a device for the hard-facing (hooping), with at least one metal component having at least one cylindrical bore, of a metal tube, in particular a metal camshaft used, for example, in a motor-vehicle engine. The device according to the invention comprises the following elements: a mounting block (1), the components (4a, 4b, 4c) to be attached to the tube, the tube (6), a tube expander (7) with its movement and coupling device, and a retractable stop (9). The method according to the invention comprises the following operations: a) the mounting block is placed between the two platens of a press; b) the various components in their housings are placed in the lower block (1a); c) the block is closed by applying a clamping pressure greater than 1 MPa; d) the tube is inserted into the bores until it bears on the retractable stop; e) the rod of the tube expander is inserted into the tube and is attached to the movement device; f) the tube expander is moved axially until it passes completely into the 1st bore; g) the stop is retracted; h) tube expanding is continued until the free end of the tube; i) the mounting block is opened; j) the finished component is withdrawn. The invention finds its application mainly in the manufacture of camshafts. <IMAGE> |
