The invention relates to an image processing system. This system is characterised in that it comprises means for calculating a mean density of a target image element and of its peripheral image elements. In this system a colour of the target image element is deemed to be the same as that of the image element deemed to be just ahead of the target image element when a difference between the mean density and a target image element density lies within a predetermined correction range.
