The panel includes a back glass plate (10), a front glass plate (20) opposing the plate (10) to form a sealed gas discharge space, display cathodes (11) formed in strips on the back plate, display anodes (13) insulated from and orthogonally crossed with the cathodes (13) on the back plate (10), a dielectric layer (12) formed between the anodes (11) and cathodes (13) on the back plate (10), auxiliary anodes (14) for generating the auxiliary discharge, barriers (14,15) formed between the plates (10,20) and parallel with the dielectric layer (12), and a fluorescent layer (19) formed on the inner parts of a front plate (20) between the barriers. The auxiliary anodes (14) intercept the lights generated by the auxiliary anodes to improve the contrast. |
