A torque variation restraining device of an engine accessory driving system for restraining variations in revolution and/or torque of a driving shaft gear system produced as the driven torque of an engine accessory rapidly changes so as to reduce gear grating noise from an engine gear system, thereby making it possible to reduce the load on the tooth surfaces of the engine gear, wherein a certain gap is formed between a retainer (4) and an engine accessory driving shaft (1), wherein a friction damper (6) surrounding the engine accessory driving shaft (1) is disposed in this gap, and wherein oil supply means (10) having engine lubricating oil introduced therein is provided between the friction damper (6) and the retainer (4), whereby the friction damper (6) is brought into contact with the driving shaft (1) by virtue of the pressure of the lubricating oil, a friction braking force to the driving shaft (1) resulting from the contact increasing as the lubricating oil pressure increases with the increase in the engine speed. |
