PURPOSE:To provide a median filter in which thin lines can not be deleted even when the thin line of one picture element are present in a picture. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a median arithmetic part 50 which calculates a median from picture data a0-a8 of each picture element included in a reference area including a picture element under consideration, and a no- filtering condition detecting part 52 which detects whether or not the thin lines including the picture element under consideration are present from the picture data a0-a8. At the time of detecting the thin line including the picture element under consideration, the no-filtering condition detecting part 52 supplies a thin line detection signal to a selecting circuit 56. The selecting circuit 56 usually selects the output signal of the median arithmetic part 50, and when the thin line detection signal is supplied, the selecting circuit 56 outputs the picture data a0 itself of the picture element under consideration to an outside. That is, when the thin lines are detected, the median filtering is suppressed, so that the thin lines in the picture can be prevented from being deleted. |
