PURPOSE:To silence attraction, miniaturize a device, and improve reliability by attracting a recording medium on a rotor with the Coulomb force acting between charges having different polarities. CONSTITUTION:When positive-polarity high voltage is applied to an electrifying wire 7a, the electrifying wire 7a generates a positive corona discharge to produce positive charges. The positive charges reach a rotor (transfer drum) 6 via a space section, and an insulating material constituting the transfer drum 6 is electrified to the positive potential. Negative charges are implanted by an earth roller 8 into a recording medium sandwiched by the transfer drum 6 and the earth roller 8, and the recording medium is electrified with negative charges. These processes continuously occur while the transfer drum 6 is rotated once. The positive changes and negative charges of the transfer drum 6 and the recording medium attract each other by the action of the Coulomb force, and the recording medium is attracted onto the transfer drum 6 as a result. The high voltage application stop period is measured after the high voltage application is stopped, and the polarity of the applied high voltage is reversed when the prescribed period is measured. |
