Process and system for producing free-flowing solid material from an aqueous sludge waste composition that includes feeding the sludge on a screw conveyor (5), mixing the sludge with previously dried solids in a blender (7), pelletizing the composition to form stranded-like material via a pelletizer (9), drying the outside layer of the stranded-like material, drying the partially dried material by contacting with heated gas in a drier (11), and conveying dried material to a holding bin (15).
