PURPOSE:To obviate curling of a base when this base is processed to a sheet form even after standing for long a period in a roll state by incorporating polyethylene naphthalate(PEN) into the base. CONSTITUTION:The base of the silver halide photosensitive material which is taken up in the roll state after coating and is left standing for >=1 day contains the PEN. The PEN is preferably polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate. The PEN contains such a copolymer, the repeating structural units thereof are substantially composed of an ethylene-2, 6-naphthalene dicarboxylate unit and <=10% of the number of the repeating structural units is modified by other components and a mixture and compsn. composed of this copolymer and other polymers. The case the PEN particularly exhibits an effect as the photosensitive material is where the photosensitive material has at least one layer of silver halide emulsion layers on both sides of the base. The base does not curl and the images having the high image quality and the high sharpness are obtd. if the PEN is applied to the photosensitive having the emulsions on both sides of the base. |
