The invention relates to a device for the open-loop and closed-loop control of mechanical and electromechanical equipment, for example light-protection equipment, which operate independently, without manual influence, exclusively as a function of temperature and material expansion differences and without the use of external energy or fault-susceptible electronics. The solution according to the invention is characterised by a very thermally insulated base body made of a material having low thermal expansion coefficients which separates two mechanical systems thermally and spatially from each other, the systems being made of material which has a high thermal expansion coefficient with respect to the base body, on which systems, directly or indirectly, independently of each other, heat can act which causes a material expansion of the mechanical systems which, via a mechanical element connected to the latter, can be converted into a rotary motion, can be introduced from there to a mechanical transmission element and can be picked off by the latter.
