The invention relates to a process for securing an essentially approximately elongate element, in particular a line, preferably a pipe, on or to a retaining member. Furthermore, the invention relates to a fastening system for fastening an elongate element, in particular a line, preferably a pipe, hose or the like. The object of the invention is to present a fastening process and system which makes it possible to fasten an elongate element in a manner which is more favourable in many respects. As far as the process is concerned, the object is achieved according to the invention in that the process is distinguished in that the elongate element, with the inclusion of part of the retaining member, has looped around it a banderole which shrinks under the action of heat, and in that the banderole is then shrunk by the action of heat, preferably using hot air, in order to secure the elongate element on that part of the retaining member which is also looped around it.
