Method for the non-contact registration of the surface temperature of rotating discs

A method is described for the rapid, high-resolution, non-contact registration of the absolute surface temperature of a rotating disc by means of measuring the infrared radiation emitted by the disc. In the method, the temperature of a surface point is measured twice, namely the first time directly and the second time after irradiation with an external temperature source of known temperature. The measurement is carried out in two measuring channels having identical construction, of which the first channel measures the temperature of the measurement point in its first position and the second channel measures the temperature of the same measurement point after irradiation in its second position. Both measurement channels undertake, continuously and simultaneously, measurement on a peripheral line of the disc, and the two series of measurements built up are phase-shifted with respect to each other to such an extent that the two temperatures of one measurement point in each case are always offered to the computer for evaluation. In the evaluation computer, the absolute temperature of the measurement point is calculated taking into account the emission factor and the reflection factor of the measurement point, in accordance with a program entered into the computer. The derivation of this calculation is given in detail.
