A braking device is provided for a moving part, such as a roller blind or the like, provided in a vehicle. In the basic condition, the moving part is preloaded in a preferred movement direction. The braking device comprises a rotating part which can be braked and which can be connected in terms of motion to the movable part. The braking device is produced and designed in such a manner that it acts on the moving part in the direction of the preferred movement direction, in which the device is preloaded, and produces a braking force for braking the movement of the moving part. However, the braking device can be decoupled in the opposite movement direction of the moving part. A braking device of this type can be used in a preferred way in a sun-roof blind, a roller blind or the like. The braking device operates expediently as a rotational movement brake, the braking effect being able to be generated on the one hand in cooperation with a viscous mass or alternatively in cooperation with an air stream.
