The invention relates to a planar compact fluorescent lamp which is constructed from components which can be detached from one another and which comprises the connection part to the power mains, the electronic ballast device and a discharge vessel with a closed luminous surface of large dimensions. According to the invention, the discharge vessel is constructed from a strip-shaped multi-chamber glass profile with two or more openings, an upper and a lower connection hood or an upper and a lower boundary wall and with inner and outer boundary walls for the discharge channel. The lower and upper boundary wall is preferably designed as a flat glass pane (panel) and the inner and outer boundary walls as strips of flat glass.
