A casting launder for casting molten metal into a mould has a horizontal main body for guiding the molten metal to the mould. Cooling-water spaces are provided on both sides of the main part. The quantity of cooling water fed to the cooling-water spaces is controlled by valves. Sideways bending of the main part at its forward end is detected by a sensor. The valves are controlled by the sensor in such a way that different quantities of cooling water are fed to the cooling-water spaces, thereby allowing the bend of the main part to be corrected.
