PURPOSE:To provide a tool particularly suitable for separating coated fibers of a ribbon type multiple optical fiber by shearing. CONSTITUTION:(1) The coated fiber separating tool is composed of a pair of shearing blade parts 22, 23 for shearing the ribbon type multiple optical fiber 11 and a separating member 14 for tearing the pantly sheared ribbon type multiple optical fiber 11 in the axial direction. (2) The coated fiber separating tool is composed of a pair of rotary shearing rollers respectively having stepped grooves for shearing the ribbon type multiple optical fiber 11 and an upper structural body and lower structural body for supporting these shearing rollers so as to make the rollers separable from each other.
