A description is given of a process for producing a corrosion-protected corrugated metal pipe, which is produced from a longitudinally running-in metal strip by shaping the metal strip into a slit pipe, longitudinally welding the slit pipe and subsequently corrugating the welded pipe. The metal strip (6a) is provided, at least on its surface forming the outer surface of the metal pipe (6), with a layer of a copolymer (6b) firmly adhering to the metal surface (6a). The slit pipe is welded by laser welding, the copolymer layer (6b) is restored in the region of the weld and the plastic-coated metal pipe (6) is continuously corrugated. <IMAGE>
