<p>An inexpensive, multi-component closure for both pressurized and vacuum-packed containers (60), includes a closure disk (400) having a combination of features for forming an effective seal for the open mouth of such containers (60) and a screw cap (412), also with a combination of features, for carrying, by its rotation, the closure disk (400) into closing and sealing engagement with the open mouth (61) of the container (60). The closure disk (400) and screw cap (412), through their coaction, provide tamper evidence upon any subsequent counter-rotation of the screw cap (412), for example, as a user initiates opening of the container (60). Through their coaction, closure disk (400) and screw cap (412) also maintain an effective seal by controlling compression set of the seal, even if the closure is exposed to heavy top loads for long periods, such as in storage, and the subsequent removal of the load.</p> |
