The internal combustion engine has, in the interior of its casing, where, by the compression of compressed air and, upon combustion by means of an ignition process, the heat is converted into mechanical energy, a rotor comprising an open ring and a solid annular disc, the latter being seated on the input shaft, with movable blade plates and a guide pin mounted between the ring and the disc, and a centrically, symmetrically formed stator mounted on the primary shaft, and firmly connected to the casing, which divides the interior of the housing into two volumes of equal size. During the rotation of the rotor around the stator, the blade plates are pressed in a sealing manner against the stator by a guide pin by way of a groove around the stator, crescent-shaped chambers of varying volume and having an intake, compression, combustion and outflow function being formed. The division of the casing into two by means of the stator gives rise to two independent process sequences when the rotor rotates giving a quadruple compression operation (compressed air) with ignition and expansion of the combustion gas (heat) per revolution. Offset inlet openings act as a mixture chamber with precompression in the intake region. Technical object: increase in power in combination with cleaner compression and combustion. Solution: periodic chamber filling (air, mixtures) by means of the simplest possible compression technology (rotor-stator) leads to continuous (quadruple) energy conversion.
