PURPOSE:To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery having high discharge operating voltage, a large discharge capacity, and good charge/discharge cycle characteristics by using a specific vanadium composite oxide for a negative electrode active material, and containing molybdenum. CONSTITUTION:A vanadium composite oxide having the composition of at least one kind of MaVbMocOd is used for a negative electrode active material. At least one kind is selected among Ca, Mg, Cd, Co, Ni, Cu, Mn, Zn, or other transition metals for the constituent M. The composition ratios of the constituents are selected in the range of 1<=a<=11, 1<=b<=6, 0<=c/b<=2, 3<=d<=40, for example. When a lithium metal and a lithium alloy for inserting lithium ions are concurrently used, a negative electrode active material having no deposition of the lithium metal caused by a charge and a discharge can be formed, thereby a safe, large-capacity secondary battery is obtained. |
