PURPOSE:To let almost all works accompanying oxygen activity measurement be automated by computing oxygen activity value using convergent data groups as soon as measurement values detected by an electromotive force detecting section are converged. CONSTITUTION:The cooling of a heating furnace 20 is started with a coolant fed to the heating furnace, and the heating of a metallic crucible 64 is simultaneously started by energying heat source of the furnace 20. The furnace 20 is heated while being controlled by a temperature control means, so that temperature within the furnace is raised up to a specified temperature in an early stage. And when temperature within a reaction pipe is raised up to the specified temperature, an oxygen sensor 32 is moved in the furnace, so that it is immersed in molten material in a metallic crucible. After immersion has been over, reading the value of electromotive force out of the sensor 32 is simultaneously started, both data on electromotive force and data on measured temperature are stored in a memory means so as to be displayed on a measurement value display section. Simultaneously, a measurement control section cuts off the aforesaid measurement at the when it is judged that electromotive force is in an equilibrium, so that oxygen activity is thereby computed. |
