PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas excellent in water and heat resistance, having a wide temp. window and effective even under excess oxygen by firing a catalyst contg. at least Cu at a temp. in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst contg. at least Cu as a catalytically active component in the metallic carrier of heat resistant stainless steel, etc., is prepd. An element which belongs to the group VIII of the periodic table, Al, Fe, etc., may be carried besides Cu as catalytically active components. The catalyst is fired at 800-1,200 deg.C. When the resulting catalyst is used, NOx in exhaust gas is efficiently removed even on the lean side of a diesel engine, etc. |
