<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a xylo-oligosacchoride which has excellent properties of activating useful microorganisms in the intestine and anti-tumor activities, and is useful for medicines or foods, efficiently, in high yield and without containing a xylose or a xylobiose, by reacting a specific xylanase with a hemicellulose as a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The xylo-oligosaccharide is prepared by reacting a xylanase which is obtained from Aeromonas caviae ME-1 (FERM-P-13664) and/or Enterobacter agglomerans ME-2 (FERM-P-13663) strain with a hemicellulose from the cotton seed crust and the like. Then the xylo-oligosaccharide is reduced in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to obtain the subject compound.</p> |
