PURPOSE:To obtain an antimicrobial agent having a wide antimicrobial spectrum and strong antimicrobial action from the liver of cuttlefishes, readily available and mostly disposed of. CONSTITUTION:The antimicrobial agent is composed of an extract obtained by extracting 1 pt.wt. ground liver of cuttlefishes with about 1-10 pts.wt. water- miscible organic solvent, subjecting the resultant extract to the treatment with a solid adsorbent, then carrying out centrifugation, collecting an upper layer part and concentrating the resultant upper layer part. Furthermore, the antimicrobial agent composition is obtained by combining this antimicrobial agent with an organic acid, salts thereof, glycine, polylysine, protamine, a lysozyme, etc. |
