PURPOSE:To produce a composite roll in which an external layer is excellent in adhesion with sprayed coating by forming the internal layer of the composite roll of specified wt.% of C, Si, Mn and Cr, and the balance Fe and furthermore incorporating Ni and Mo into the external layer. CONSTITUTION:This composite roll is formed of an internal layer, an external layer and a thermally sprayed layer. The internal layer is constituted of, by weight, 0.05 to 0.25% C, >1.5 to 5% Si, 0.5 to 1.5% Mn and 10 to 14% Cr, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The external layer is constituted of 0.05 to 0.25% C, 0.5 to 1.5% Si, 0.5 to 1.5% Mn, 10 to 14% Cr, 0.2 to 1.0% Ni and 0.2 to 1.0% Mo, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The external layer and internal layer are respectively formed of a centrifugally-cast steel layer. In this way, the composite roll enough in roll strength and toughness and in which the internal layer has excellent corrosion resistance can be provided. |
