PURPOSE:To provide a composite material consisting of a silk material and an optical semiconductor which has functions as a functional material such as the freshness preserving action and the action of adsorbing ammonia due to the characteristics of the silk material and also the sterilizing and antibacterial actions due to the characteristics of the optical semiconductor and therefore can be used for new applications as a food preserving material, etc. CONSTITUTION:The composite material consisting of a silk material and an optical semiconductor is formed by depositing the optical semiconductor having photocatalytic action due to the formation of electrochemical cell, on the base material consisting of the silk material such as silk nonwoven fabric, silk granular material, silk powdery material or silk gel-like material, all of which are formed out of silk fiber. As the method for depositing the optical semiconductor on the base material, those for melt-spraying at low temp. the semiconductor on e.g. the nonwoven fabric used as the base material and for printing the optical semiconductor on the surface of e.g. the nonwoven fabric, etc., are applicable to this purpose. |
